Richly Scented Candles

Posted by James | Candle, Scented |

I love richly scented candles and I can’t image that I’m the only one who does. Are there any other candle fans out there? Let us know some of your favorite scents and candle makers.

Today I just wanted to talk about what goes in to making the perfect candle with a rich scent. I don’t mean that I’m physically going to make it myself, but what to look for when buying that great scented candle.

The most obvious starting point is the scent itself, naturally. From vanilla bean to rain forest scents, there are so many out there to choose from that it really boils down to personal olfactory taste. What do you like and how strong do you like it? This is probably the one aspect of smelling candles for the first time is that it can be perfect in the store, but be over whelming when lit at home. Also, there is always to possibility that there are too many competing candle scents in the store so that you don’t get very accurate smell of the candles you are deciding between.

When shopping for candles, I always recommend that you pick the candles that seem the most promising, and then smell them again when you are in a different section of the store before checking out. This is also a reason why it’s great to stick with a favorite brand of scented candle because you know you’ll be satisfied with the smell.

Next, you need to take into account the design of the candle. Smell is the most important detail, but coloring, shape, and size need to be taken into consideration because candles make a visual statement just as much as an aroma statement. Think about where you will be putting your new candles and what effect you want them to have. Should they make a statement and draw the eye or sit subtly in the background.

These are just a few things to think about when it comes to richly scented candles and getting the most enjoyment.
